September/October 2007:
Guess what! John's been involved in an internet e-mail scam! Not really, just someone out there ripping off his identity to solicit money for a bogus modeling job in the UK.
These e-mails have been sent to numerous people around the world, from NYC to Australia, asking if you'd like to come model for "Monarchy Clothing" company in the UK. Apparently my "renowned acting career" in the US was not enough to keep me in Los Angeles and I've fled to London to work as a "Model Scout" for Monarch Clothing Company. (No Joke! This is what the e-mails state!)
All you have to do to complete this contract and come work for me is get your passport and "my lawyer" will handle getting your "work permit" for a modest fee....
I have found out that someone (only one that is confirmed so far) actually sent $450 USD to the UK via Western Union, and of course the contract never appeared. This is actually quite sad, and so as to not make light of the situation I am posting this warning, and the changes to my homepage, until further action from the police has been completed.
In conclusion: I am an actor. I live in Los Angeles. I am not a model scout. I do not live in London. I have never been to London, though I would like to go there.
Do not send me money for a UK work permit. If you have sent money to someone posing as me, call your local police and report it. You have been scammed by someone who stole my personal information and posed as me.
Sincerely,
The Real John Ainsworth
